President Russia Vladimir Putin visited the Region for the first time since Moscow announced last year that she fully regained control of the area after the sudden Ukrainian land offensive, the State Agency TASS on Wednesday.
Putin met with municipal officials in the town of Kurghatovo and visited the Kursk Nuclear Power Plant, which is currently in the construction phase, stated in a press release transferred by TASS.

Russian state media have published videos where Putin is seen in a suit talks to local volunteers. However, the exact date of the visit is not listed, writes CNN.
In August last year, Ukraine performed a sudden land offensive to Kursk, taking on a part of the territory in what was the first entry of the army to Russian ground from World War II.
Since then, Russia, with the support of North Korean soldiers, seeks to suppress Ukrainian forces from that area. On the other hand, Kiev invests significant resources to keep control of conquered parts, counting on them as an important trump card in any peace negotiations.

Last month, Putin said Russian forces retreated the control of Kursk again, and that North Korean soldiers also took part in the fighting.
Kiev, however, claims that Ukrainian forces continue to lead fierce struggles in the area.
“We continue active operations in the regions of Kursk and Belgorod – proactively defend the border areas of Ukraine,” said Ukrainian President Volodimir Green in its evening address last Wednesday.
