“Perhaps we should agree here that the three presidents meet only if it is necessary to finalize agreements or, as the Americans say, an agreement. That is probably true,” said Peskov in an interview with Pavel Zarubin, Interfax reports today.
Speaking about the possibility of organizing a meeting between the Russian president and Zelensky, Peskov recalled the previous statements of the Ukrainian president in which he spoke about “what Ukraine will never agree to, what it will not agree to, what it intends to do next.”
“There is no need to even analyze them (statements), we just need to remember and ask whether it makes sense to meet at the highest level if the Kiev regime still maintains this position,” said Peskov.
When asked if Zelensky’s offer to come to Moscow if he wants to discuss anything is still valid, Peskov answered in the affirmative.
“Yes, that was President Putin’s word, he always keeps his word,” Peskov said.
He stated that the territorial issue remains the most complex aspect of the Ukrainian solution, as well as that the meeting between Putin and Zelensky must be preceded by meticulous professional work.
