Commenting on US President Donald Trump’s statements that the parties are nearing the end of the conflict in Ukraine, Peskov told the TASS agency that work on this is “progressing”.
“The work is ongoing. It is progressing. Now it is crucial to implement the formula agreed in Anchorage,” said Peskov.
He added that his colleague, assistant to the Russian President Vladimir Putin, Yuri Ushakov said this after the meeting between Putin and the US President’s envoy Steven Witkoff, reports Tanjug.
Ushakov previously said that during the meeting with the US envoys in the Kremlin, “it was once again stated that without solving the territorial issue according to the formula agreed in Anchorage, it makes no sense to count on achieving a long-term solution” in Ukraine.
So far, the Russian side has not gone public with what exactly the “Anchorage formula” means, which refers to the conversation between Trump and Putin during the meeting in Anchorage, Alaska, in August of last year.
