Pensioners in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina expected a 0.4 percent settlement after the January pension increase of 11.2 percent, instead of 11.6 percent, as promised by the government. They will get an adjustment, but not by 0.4 percent, but by 0.06 percent.
Thus, the beneficiaries of the pension, which now amounts to 666.40 KM, will receive an increase of 36 pfennigs, so it will amount to 666.76 KM.
The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, at a telephonic session on February 20, at the proposal of the Federal Ministry of Labor and Social Policy, adopted a decision acknowledging and approving the Decision on the adjustment of pensions in accordance with Article 79 of the Law on Pension and Disability Insurance, in the amount of 11.26 percent, to the amount of the pension paid for December 2025, which was adopted by the Management Board of the Federal Institute for Pension and Disability Insurance.
– With this decision, the first adjustment of pensions in 2026 was made in two parts, in such a way that the advance adjustment of pensions was made in January 2026 in the amount of 11.2 percent, and the additional adjustment of pensions will be made in accordance with the decision in the amount of 0.06 percent.
As the proponent argues, in accordance with the published official data of the Federal Bureau of Statistics, on February 15, 2026. year, the average gross salary in the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina increased by 16.3 percent for the period January – November 2025, compared to January – November 2024, while for the same period the consumer price index (CPI) grew at a rate of 3.7 percent. In accordance with these published data, and according to the formula for regular adjustment of pensions, which is the sum of 60 percent of the growth rate of the average gross salary and 40 percent of the CPI growth rate, the rate of final adjustment of pensions starting from 1.1.2026. is 11.26 percent – it was announced from the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
It is not specified whether pensioners will receive adjusted pensions by 0.06 percent in March.
Mustafa Trakić, a member of the Board of Directors of the Federation of Federation of Pensioners’ Associations, says that they are aware that the settlement is 0.06 percent according to the official data of the Federal Bureau of Statistics when the new parameters for the adjustment of pensions are taken into account.
He adds that they have no choice but to wait for July, when the second increase in pensions takes place, to see if the FBiH Government will fulfill its promise.
