Vitali Klicko, former boxer of heavy categories, and today the Mayor of Kiev, last month entered unexplored political territory: in the interview he suggested that Ukraine might be given the territory to complete the war with Russia.

After the avalanche of negative comments, he gave up the claim, publishing that “Territorial concessions in conflicting the national interests” and that Kiev “should fight their implementation.”

U.S. President Donald Trump and his negotiators believe that the only way to the end of the war in Ukraine admitted that Kiev admitted that they will not be part of the territories that Russian troops have won from the beginning of its invasion.

Klickov’s statement, so its withdrawal, with several surveys spent after three years, show that most Ukrainians do not want to give Russia territory in exchange for ceasefire.

These studies explain why Ukrainian President Volodimir, which is expected to run again for that function, rejects Trump’s pressure to presume the territory in the survey negotiations.

Ukrainians think it will just empower Russia

The Survey of the Gradus Research in the exclusive possession of Reuters shows that almost three-quarters of Ukrainians do not consider a renunciation of the way to complete the war.

“Most respondents believe that the main goal of Russia is to establish full control over their land,” says in the trades of the Gradus, Hina.

“Ukrainian territorial concessions are not considered a compromise and a peace guarantee – exactly the opposite, it will be said to only strengthen the aggressor.”

Russia rejects that he wants control over Ukraine, but at the beginning of the invasion arrived at the entrance to Kiev, before Ukrainian forces rejected them to current positions in the south and east.

Ukrainian surveys spent this week show that 40 percent of respondents believe that even in the case of concession peace would be temporary and unsustainable. An additional 31 percent believes that concessions would not lead to peace at all.

Exhausted and faced with a larger enemy

Russia controls about 20 percent of the Ukrainian territory at this time, including the peninsula of the Crimea, which annexed 2014, as well as large parts of four other regions of Eastern and Southeastern Ukraine.

According to American negotiators, many European Allies Kiev, and even part of Ukrainians recognize that Ukraine will have to accept the renunciation of part of the territory.

Ukrainians are exhausted and faced with a larger and stronger enemy. Their attempts for Russia thrust at the battlefield failed, and their western partners did not give them enough military aid to achieve a decisive victory.

Greenski also acknowledges that Ukraine has no power to return the territory in the fight against much more powerful enemy, but emphasizes that the indebtedness of the territories would be the opposite of the Constitution.

However, opposition to the concession of the territory weakens.

50 percent rejected the idea that Russia has ever handed over to the territory

Data of the Kiev International Institute for Sociology (KIIS) showed that in March 39 percent supported territorial concessions, compared to only 10 percent in May 2022.

However, it was also determined that in March 50 percent of Ukrainians rejected the idea that Russia has ever handed over to the territory, which is one percent less than December.

Data from the Second Institute – The Reference Center from the survey conducted in February and March showed that almost 82 percent of respondents were against any formal acceptance that the territories were occupied.

“The definition of territorial concessions that more than half of the household hearts accepted the de facto recognition of the occupation without de jure recognition,” said Anton Hrušetskij from KIIS, adding that the country would have to get security guarantees in return.

Nobody but clip

In addition to Greččko short-term ‘excursions’, none of the pointed person in Ukrainian politics or public life tries to encourage the national conversation on the need to recognize the loss of territories.

Evhen Mahda, a political analyst in Kiev, said that the dialogue between the country’s leadership and the Society on Dismissing the territories is needed to ensure the widely acceptance of the potential agreement.

“Unfortunately, we must be realistic,” Mahda said the terms of the agreement on the end of the war, noting that many Ukrainians still experience discussions about compromise around the territory as a betrayal.
