The president and vice-president of the Federation of Veterans of the FBiH visited the federal minister for veterans and disabled people of the defense and liberation war, Nedžad Lokmić, in order to be informed about the implementation of the veterans’ laws and the changes that, as of January 1, bring significant financial and status benefits to the veteran population.
President of the Federation of RVI FBiH, Kerim Trakić, said that the amendments to the law on the rights of veterans enable a more favorable retirement for all war-disabled soldiers, regardless of their ability to work.
“All disabled war veterans, whether able or unable to work, have the right to a more favorable retirement. I invite those who meet the conditions to apply to the PIO/MIO fund,” said Trakić after the conversation with Minister Lokmić.
Minimum pension
The amendments to the law, as explained by the federal minister Nedžad Lokmić, guarantee that the pensions of disabled war veterans and winners of war awards will not be lower than the minimum pension paid in December 2024.
“The minimum pension as of January 1 is KM 666.40. If someone has a lower pension, the difference will be paid by the FBiH Government,” said Lokmić, reports Avaz.
He added that the previous restrictions from 2013 have been abolished, and that every disabled war veteran, with recognized war service, can exercise the right to a pension before reaching the age of 65, as well as work and receive a pension at the same time.
Payments and increases
“Pensioners received increases retroactively from January, and disabled war veterans will receive increased disability benefits through the March disability benefits, which are paid in April.
War disabled soldiers, families of fallen soldiers and demobilized soldiers will have the greatest benefits through the harmonization of personal and family disability benefits,” said Trakić, reports Focus.
