The G1 category tournament, which is scored for the world and Olympic rankings, gathered over 1,000 competitors from a large number of countries, in all age categories – from cadets and juniors to seniors, which further confirms the weight and importance of that competition.
The greatest success for the Sarajevo club was achieved by Nedžad Husić, who won a bronze medal in the senior competition in the category up to 80 kg. He reached the medal after three extremely demanding and dominant victories, demonstrating excellent physical fitness, technical precision and tactical maturity.
Due to an injury sustained during the competition, Husić was unable to compete in the semi-final fight, which deprived him of the opportunity to fight for an even greater honor. Despite this, his result represents a great success both for him personally and for the club.
In addition to the medal winners, the colors of TKD Novi Grad were also defended by Dzejla Makaš (-49 kg, senior women), Ejla Makaš (-49 kg, senior women) and Benjamin Husić (-74 kg, seniors.)
– Although this time they were left without medals, all competitors showed combativeness, quality and represented the club worthily on the international stage, gaining important experience against top competition – it was announced from the Taekwondo club Novi Grad Sarajevo.
The club says that participation in such tournaments represents an important segment in the development of athletes, and the achieved result is a confirmation of continuous and dedicated work in that club.
According to them, the Spanish Open G1 also represents an important test of form before the next challenges, including domestic and international championships.
