Unfortunately, during the first official training, which took place yesterday, Muzaferia fell on the track and due to an ankle injury, she will miss the downhill that is scheduled for tomorrow.
The accident happened towards the end of the first sector after the skier, at high speed, hit the gate during a small landing, then hit the track and the protective fence.
“The fall was quite serious and I can say that I fared much better than it could have been. It’s a great luck that the air vest inflated in time and protected me from the impact from the track and the guardrail,” says Muzaferia.
After receiving emergency medical help and medical examinations, changes were noted in the area of the ankle joint.
“Certain tests were done and I’m still waiting for a specialist’s opinion on some findings. It’s clear right now that I’ll miss today’s training and the downhill race tomorrow. There’s very little chance that I’ll be able to start the Super-G races for the weekend, but by the time they exist, I hope so,” adds Muzaferia.
The women’s downhill race will be held in Solde tomorrow, while the Super-G discipline will mark the weekend as compensation for the canceled race from Zauchensee.
