Oman’s Foreign Minister, Sayyid Badr Al Busaidi, met in Riyadh on Wednesday with his Saudi counterpart, Prince Faisal bin Farhan, to discuss the recent events in Yemen.
The talks focused on the latest developments in Yemen and their consequences for regional security and stability, Oman’s foreign ministry said.
The ministers also discussed ongoing efforts to de-escalate tensions and “explored ways to strengthen the political process to address the roots of the conflict and achieve a comprehensive solution that ensures the security and stability of Yemen.”
Saudi Arabia expressed its displeasure on Tuesday over the United Arab Emirates’ move to pressure Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council forces to operate near the Kingdom’s borders.
The UAE denied directing any Yemeni side to carry out military operations that would harm Saudi Arabia and reiterated its “full respect” for the Kingdom’s sovereignty. Later, the UAE announced the end of its military presence in Yemen, adding that the decision was taken at its own discretion.
