The Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry said that in the meeting with the Director of the Energy Community, Artur Lorkovski in Vienna agreed to the Law on Electricity Regulator in BiH, which should be obtained by Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The meeting was attended by the Federal Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry Vedran Lakić, the Minister of Energy and Mining RS Petar Đokić and the Minister of Foreign Trade and the Economic Relations of BiH Stašarijam, stated in a statement of the Ministry.
Minister Lakić pointed out the satisfaction with the agreement reached.
– We have reason to be satisfied especially due to the circumstances in which our country is currently found, because this is an important step on the path to the exclusion of Bosnia and Herzegovina from the EU’s carbon fee. In this way, we will protect exporters from all over BiH in the EU, and money from the fee will be able to use for projects within our country, instead of going to the EU. We managed to convince negotiators to accept all the conditions that the BiH Federation has set up, which will ensure a compliant and sustainable framework for the electricity sector – Minister Lakić said.
He emphasized that BiH’s law not only meets one of the key conditions for the exemption from the carbon fee (CBAM), but also received electricity exchanges for the first time, the headquarters will be in Mostar.
– After comprehensive and demanding negotiations, we managed to achieve that BiH is no longer the only state that does not even have its own law or the electricity market – added Minister Lakić.
In a statement of the Federal Ministry, it is added that after obtaining the necessary opinions, this law will be on the agenda of the Council of Ministers of BiH.
– Great gratitude goes to all participants and their teams committed to this law, as well as the energy community, which showed enough patience and understanding during the process – the Federal Ministry of Energy, Mining and Industry was announced.
