The titles of the best ZDK coaches for 2025 went to Aida Kalušić (Basketball Women’s Club “Čelik BH Telecom” Zenica), Hamza Alić (Athletic Club Zenica), Elvedin Dubravec (KBS “Titanium” Usora) and Mirza Pjanić (KBS “ISAK-ZE” Zenica).
The best sports workers are: Aziz Kevelj (Athletic Club Zenica), Aida Bunjo (Rhythmic Gymnastics Club “Čelik” Zenica) and Irhad Hadžimehmedagić (Aero Club “Izet Kurtalić” Visoko).
Zumra Gušo, a member of the Sports and Fishing Club “Bosna” Maglaj and the Association for Sports of Persons with Disabilities Maglaj, and Edib Šahman, a member of the Sports Association of Persons with Disabilities ZDK, were declared the best in the category of athletes with disabilities, while Mujo Parić from Zavidović was declared the best sports worker in sports for persons with disabilities in the Zenica-Doboj Canton for 2025, the Press Service of ZDK announced.
The organizer of the event this year was the NIPD “Our Word” Zenica, while the general sponsors were the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton and the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.
ZDK Prime Minister Nezir Pivić said that the Athlete of the Year event is a recognition of the best among athletes, coaches and sports teams who, with their work, discipline and perseverance, achieve top results and represent the canton worthily throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina and the world. He said that athletes are not only champions on the field, but also role models for young people, ambassadors of our cities and the best proof that Zenica-Doboj Canton can reach the highest sporting heights.
– As the Government of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, we clearly and decisively stand behind sports, not declaratively, but with concrete measures and record investments. This year, we are allocating the largest funds for sports in history, a total of around six million KM, which confirms our commitment to systemically strengthen and develop sports – added Pivić.
The Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, Mirza Mushija, stated that investments in sports yield results, but that success does not come overnight. Continuous work, effort and dedication, as he stated, bring results, which is why they are proud of our athletes.
