Tešanj Civil Protection Service is currently focused on increased spring activities, especially in the prevention and reaction in case of fire caused by low-growing burning.
The Assistant Municipal Chief of Civil Protection, Mensur Saletović, warned the serious consequences of uncontrolled ignition of the grass, stating that such procedures may cause great material damage, and even tragic consequences.
“We appeal to citizens to inform our professional fire station before any ignition. Our number is 121 or 123. Fast reaction is key,” he pointed out for the ZOS Radio Saletović.
Tešanj Municipality currently has 12 professional firefighters and actively cooperates with two voluntary firefighting companies – DVD Jelah and DVD Tešanj 1905. A total of more than 35 trained members can be engaged in the event.
“Our cooperation with DVDs is exceptional. We are regularly equipped, funded and involved in all important exercises and actions,” Saletović adds.
The importance of the involvement of young people in the work of voluntary firefighting societies is especially emphasized. “We see the growing interest in children and youth. Some societies gather up to 30 children in exercise, which is extremely important for the future of the protection and rescue system,” emphasized.
Speaking about regional cooperation, Saletović confirmed an extremely good operational connection with neighboring municipalities Teslić and Doboj, which have formed professional units, but also with Usor and Doboj South, which have not yet formed such units. “We are always responding to calls for help, and vice versa. This mutual support and solidarity are the key values of our work,” he said.
Finally, Saletović called on the citizens of responsible behavior during spring works, stressing that all civil protection services are available, and all steps should be taken to prevent unwanted consequences.
