Turkish authorities arrested 234 people in surgery against criminal organizations engaged in drug trade, and which was coordinated with four European countries, the Minister of the Interior Turkey Ali Yerlikaya said on Tuesday.
– We arrested 234 leaders of criminal organizations, 225 within Turkey and nine from abroad, “Yerlikaya said, adding that 10 suspects were required through Interpol’s red warrant.
Speaking in Ankara, he stated that they were arrested for crimes, such as international drug trade, money laundering, murder, threats and blackmail.
Police from Belgium, Germany, Spain, the Netherlands and Turkey performed coordinated actions, Yerlikaya said, adding that the suspects were leading to the production and cocaine trade scheme, heroine and other drugs.
In the operation, hundreds of real estate, vehicles, shares in companies and bank accounts, total values of 13 billion Turkish lira ($ 341 million), cited the Minister.
