The best Bosnian cyclist Lejla Njemčević will compete in the international UCI XCO C1 race in Vodice, Croatia, this coming weekend.
This performance will serve as her last competitive form check before the continuation of the season and new challenges on the world stage.
The demanding track in Vodice is extremely well known to our competitor. Njemčević has won this race four times in her career so far, in 2017 and 2018, and in 2023 and 2024, and the technically demanding rocky terrain is an ideal simulation of what awaits her at the World Cup on the island of Elba in Italy.
– I feel really good and completely competitively ready, and eight days of extremely hard racing at the Cape Epic helped me hone my form to the desired level. Now officially begins the main part of the season for which we have been preparing for months. Considering how the winter preparations and previous races have gone, I enter this period with great confidence and I can’t wait for the next challenges at the biggest races on the cycling scene – said Njemčević.
After performing in Croatia, BiH. the cyclist is traveling to Italy, where on May 9 she will make her second appearance this season at the World Cup in the marathon discipline, which is held on the island of Elba.
Njemčević showed that the track there, known for its sharp stones and steep climbs, suits her very well last season when she won a great second place on Elba.
At the opening of the World Cup season in Spain in February BH. the competitor took a high sixth place, and it was also her first appearance on the new Orbea bike.
The main goal of the upcoming race in Vodice is to raise the competitive pace, so that the European vice-champion from 2024 will travel to Italy fully prepared and compete again for the top step of the podium in the World Cup.
