French defender Ibrahima Konata will leave Liverpool after five years when his contract expires next month, the English Premier League club announced on Sunday.
The twenty-seven-year-old, who came from RB Leipzig in 2021 for 36 million pounds in April he said he was close to agreeing on a new contract.
However, the British media reported that salary negotiations completedwith Konate becoming the third player after Mohamed Salah and Andy Robertson to leave the Merseyside club on a free transfer this season.
Liverpool FC can confirm Ibrahima Konata is set to leave the club upon the expiry of his contract this summer.
Konate will depart with our gratitude and appreciation for the contribution he made and everyone at the club wishes him the best for the future.

In a social media post, Konate said he was sad that he could not say goodbye to the fans after their last home game against Brentford.

Konate was an integral part of the Liverpool team that won the league title in the 2024/25 season, and with the club he won two League Cups and the FA Cup and finished as runners-up in the 2022 Champions League.
