The president of the Paralympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina was also in the delegation that attended the meeting. Sabahudin Delalić, and Presidents of Paralympic Committees from the countries of the region – Ratko Kovačić from the Republic of Croatia, Zoran Mičović from the Republic of Serbia and Branimir Jovanovski from North Macedonia.
The meeting was an opportunity to exchange opinions and experiences about the current situation in the Paralympic sport, as well as opportunities for further development and strengthening support to athletes with disabilities in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the region. During the meeting, the importance of support for athletes with disabilities was discussed, and a significant success that achieved our paraolympics in swimming and sitting volleyballs held in Paris last year, winning two silver medals.
BiH Presidency Member Željko Komšić expressed deep respect for the achievements of our athletes and said that he would always have his full support. He emphasized the importance of continuous work on creating equal opportunities for athletes with disabilities, as well as to improve infrastructure and organizational conditions for their work and performances. He said the biggest problem in Bosnia and Herzegovina, unfortunately, there is no adequate legal solution for the Paralympic Sport, which is why it continuously emphasizes that the area of this area is as soon as possible to ensure the rights and equality of athletes with disabilities.
The interlocutors pointed out that the sport has a unique strength to remove barriers and enable the athletes to achieve top results, as our Ismail Barlov is acquired – an example to all young people can be achieved in spite of the challenges.
They also pointed out that the mission of all of us should be transferred to all spheres of society, including education, health care system and social protection, so that people with disabilities have equal opportunities without obstacles.
The President of the International Paralympic Committee, Andrew Parsons, eventually expressed hope that the law in question would be adopted in as soon as possible, because the Paralympic sport in Bosnia and Herzegovina deserves it. By adopting this law, the Paralympic Sports of Bosnia and Herzegovina will receive access to resources, funds and projects that the International Paralympic Committee offers.
