The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) has confirmed that it is investigating the credibility of a possible ransom message that was allegedly sent to several US media outlets. FBI Special Agent Heith Janke said the message contained information about a deadline and the amount of money being sought. According to American media, including the TMZ portal, the kidnappers are allegedly demanding a multi-million dollar amount in cryptocurrency.

Authorities previously said they have not yet identified a suspect or person of interest in the case, and a $50,000 reward has been offered for information leading to the missing woman. Meanwhile, the FBI has arrested one person for sending a fake ransom note, unrelated to the main investigation.
The family had previously released two videos in which they expressed their willingness to communicate with the kidnappers and asked for proof that Nancy Guthrie was alive. Her son Camron Guthrie confirmed that the family had no direct contact with the people behind the kidnapping, stressing that the most important thing for them is to know that their mother is alive.
Additional concern is the health condition of Nancy Guthrie, who disappeared without the necessary medication. The family and the police warn that without therapy, her life could be in serious danger. “She needs medication to survive and not suffer,” Savannah Guthrie previously said.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said investigators are still working under the assumption that Nancy Guthrie is alive. “We believe she is still out there somewhere and we are doing everything we can to bring her home,” Nanos said, adding that all scenarios are still being considered.
