Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Monday urged his countrymen to show “determination” ahead of this week’s anniversary of the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Since the revolution, Khamenei said, “foreign powers have always sought to restore the previous state,” referring to the period when Iran was ruled by Shah Reza Pahlavi and politically dependent on the United States.
– National strength is not so much reflected in rockets and airplanes, as in the will and steadfastness of the people – said Khamenei, adding:
“Show it again and thwart the enemy.”
