Bosnia and Herzegovina’s Paralympian Ilma Kazazić will perform at the upcoming Paralympic Games, which will be held from March 6 to 15 in the Italian cities of Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
As the head of the BH mission Nijaz Memić of the Paralympic team pointed out today at the press conference that Kazazić will perform at the Paralympics after a busy season and fulfilling the norm for the biggest Paralympic competition, where he will defend the colors of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the fourth time in his career, after competing in Sochi, PyeongChang and Beijing.
Memic notes that the four-member BiH team will travel to Italy on Monday, in order for BiH. the competitor adapted as best as possible to the conditions there.
Kazazić emphasized that she is very proud that her coach and father, Fahrudin Kazazić, will be at these games, who, according to her, has always accompanied and shadowed her successes.
– These games are special to me because he is there with me. What I can hope for, and what we have been preparing and competing for all this time, is actually my desire and my goal to make the best possible result, if not a historic one – said Kazazić.
Fahrudin Kazazić pointed out that the road to qualifying for the Paralympic Games was not at all easy, both physically and financially, and that behind BH. team an extremely demanding period of preparation and performance at international competitions.
He emphasized that during the past year, and especially in the last six months, they performed at numerous arenas in Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Italy and Austria, where significant results were achieved, including placing on the podium and winning medals.
However, as he explained, the points collected through the qualification cycle were decisive for the final placement at the Paralympic Games.
– Ilma had extremely great physical efforts, but today I can say that she is both physically and mentally ready for what awaits us in mid-March. I hope that Bosnia and Herzegovina will be with her – Kazazić said.
The official doctor of the BiH Paralympic team, Mirsad Muftić, thanked the management of the Paralympic Committee of Bosnia and Herzegovina, who, as he stated, performed a significant part of the organizational and administrative work in order for BiH. the team could perform at the Games.
He pointed out that he is particularly proud to be part of the team, recalling that Ilma Kazazić was once his patient, and emphasized the importance of sports in the process of rehabilitation and personal development.
– She is a symbol of strength and success, an example to young people of how disability can be turned into ability. It is a great honor that he will carry the flag of Bosnia and Herzegovina and represent our country at the fourth Paralympic Games – said Muftić.
At the end of the press conference, the captain of the Basketball Club Bosna Miralem Halilović presented Ilma Kazazić with a jersey ahead of her appearance at the Paralympic Games in Milan and Cortina d’Ampezzo.
