Personal data in official records maintained by IDDEEA are protected at the highest security level

Personal data security and passport protection are crucial to prevent abuse on the internet, including illegal platforms such as “Dark Web”. Agency for Identification Documents, Records and Exchange of Bosnia and Herzegovina (IDDEEA) Stresses that the official databases are protected at the highest level and there is no risk of their compromise. Most abuse occurs due to the negligence of individuals when storing and sharing documents.

Who can require copies of personal documents?

Toward Law on Personal Data Protection of BiHCopying and scanning personal documents is allowed Only authorized institutions and organizations in accordance with the legal basis. Hotels, travel agencies and other private organizations do not have the right to retain copies of personal documents without an explicit legal basis. They can record basic data such as the name and surname of this reason visits, but citizens are not obliged to leave documents at the reception of the hotel or other facilities.

How to protect personal documents from abuse?
