The EU High Representative for Foreign Policy and Former Prime Minister Estonia, Kaja Kallas, expressed a suspicion that the announced meeting will come between Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenic and Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkey.
Speaking at the summit of democracy in Copenhagen, Kallas assessed that he accepted Putin’s offer for direct negotiations “correct”, but he believes that the “great question” will appear.
“It’s good if they sit down for the table, but I don’t believe Putin will dare,” Kallas said.

Putin, has offered negotiations without prerequisites for more than three years after the beginning of the invasion of Ukraine. He immediately accepted the proposal immediately, with the condition that Russia agrees to the 30-day interruption of fire, which previously proposed the United States. However, Moscow is not currently displaying a readiness on a truce.
“Americans leave the door open, but more than 60 days passed and now the specific moves are needed to see Putin at the table,” Kallas added.
She also emphasized that no agreement be reached without Ukraine.
“If we see that Russia and the United States agree on things that are unacceptable for Ukraine or Europe, it just won’t pass,” the EU High Representative concluded.
