JP Rad dd Tešanj officially began construction work on the construction of three solar power plants with a total capacity of 152 kW, which is an important step forward to reduce electricity costs and the greater energy independence of the utility company.
The introductory meeting in the works was held on 07.05.2025. year, with the presence of UNDP representatives, contractors, surveillance, administration and employees PE work. The value of the investment for three photovoltaic power plants is about 270,000 KM, and the planned deadline for completion of works is 70 days. UNDP, in addition to led by the tender procedure, provided funds in the amount of 120,000 KM, while the Municipality of Tešanj was supported by the project with 75,000 KM. The remaining funds, in the amount of 222,000 KM, are secured from the own budget of JP RAD.
This project is the result of multi-year efforts, which began 2022. Years when the first initial meetings with UNDP were held. During this process, PE work was developed by a feasibility prophet and exceeded numerous administrative barriers – from the selection of sites, obtaining consent, to resolve property-legal issues.
Taking into account the continuous growth of electricity prices – which has been in 2021. rose five times – investing in their own energy sources has been necessarily. Only in 2024. year electricity cost for PE work was over 355,000 KM, and in 2025. the amount of 425,000 KM is estimated.
The remaining funds from the agreement will be planned in the coming period for another or two solar power plants, after additional technical and economic analysis.
