Denver basketball player Nikola Jokić received two major awards from the NBA for the current season, right before the start of the playoffs and his team’s duel against Minnesota.
Before the start of the playoffs, Jokić was presented with awards for the best jumper and the best assistant of the season, which further confirmed his dominance in the league.
The NBA previously announced that Jokic became the first player in history to finish the season as the leader in both rebounds and assists per game.
He finished the regular season with an average of 12.9 rebounds and 10.9 assists per match, which represents one of the most complete performances in modern basketball.
The Denver Nuggets announced on social media that Jokic was awarded with two crystal statues as a confirmation of his individual achievements.
Still, in his signature style, Jokic showed modesty, pointing out that the awards should also include legends like John Stockton and Wilt Chamberlain, who hold the all-time records for assists and rebounds.
– They should also put Stockton or someone like him… and the one who holds the record for jumps. Thank you, I appreciate the award, but they also deserve respect – said Jokić.
The great center continues his impressive season, and the next challenge awaits him in the series against the Minnesota Timberwolves, where the first game will be played on Saturday at 9:30 p.m.
