Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) seized two oil tankers with foreign crews in Gulf waters for alleged “fuel smuggling”, Tasnim news agency reported on Thursday.
For now, it is not known under whose flags the tankers sailed, nor what nationalities the crew members were.

The seizure came at a time of heightened tensions in the region, after Washington sent a naval group to the area following Tehran’s deadly response to anti-government protests.
