The global operational action “Liberterra III”, which was coordinated by Interpol, was implemented in the period from November 10 to 21, 2025, with the participation of 127 Interpol member countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The main goal of this action was to identify and break up criminal groups involved in migrant smuggling and human trafficking, as well as providing assistance to victims of human trafficking and migrants in vulnerable situations.
During the operational phase of the “Liberterra III” action at the global level, 4,414 potential victims of human trafficking were identified and placed under protection, while a total of 12,992 irregular migrants were detected in 119 countries around the world.
Activities on the territory of Bosnia and Herzegovina were carried out in coordination with the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina, under the supervision of the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
During several months of pre-operational preparations and implementation of the operational phase of the action, the Directorate for the Coordination of Police Bodies of Bosnia and Herzegovina coordinated all activities with the aim of the timely and successful implementation of this operational action in Bosnia and Herzegovina, within the scope of its legally prescribed competences.
The realization of this action is the result of the planned and coordinated action of all involved police bodies and the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, along with the continuous exchange of information at the national and international level.
During the implementation of the operational phase of the action in BiH, a total of 30 persons were arrested, of which 11 for the criminal offense of “trafficking in human beings”, 17 for the criminal offense of “human smuggling” and two persons for the criminal offenses of “unauthorized production and placing on the market of narcotic drugs” and “possession and enabling the consumption of narcotic drugs” from the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Also, 159 irregular migrants and 24 victims of human trafficking were discovered, five investigations were opened, three organized criminal groups were identified, and one criminal group was broken up, it says. Klix.
