Bosnia and Herzegovina is located on 25. place among 38 European countries according to employee life, with a share of 41 percent of those who think “progressing”, shows the latest global research of the Gallup Agency.
Compared to last year, it is an increase in six percentage points, which BiH ranks among countries with the greatest improvement in the perception of life.
Despite the positive shifts, the engagement of employees in BiH remains a challenge. Only 17 percent of respondents said they were engaged in their workplace. Although this result exceeds the European average of 13 percent, still reflects the low level of emotional involvement and work motivation. The comparisons work, in Romania, the country with the highest all engagement in Europe, is engaged every third employee (35%), while Croatia is on the bottom with only seven percent engaged.
Gallup’s research included more than 160 countries. Life quality assessment is based on the so-called Cantril’s scale: Employees rate where they are currently in and where they expect to be in five years, on a scale of 0 (the worst life possible) to 10 (best possible life). Those who judge the current situation with “7” or more, and the future with “8” or more, are considered to those who “progress”. In Bosnia and Herzegovina, there are more and more employees who fall into the category of those who “progress”, while the proportion of those located in the hard situation decreases.
Serbia is making progress
At the European level, the best assessments give employees in Finland (81%), Iceland and Denmark (77% each). Among the countries of the region, Serbia has progressed the most, with a share of 55 percent of those who “progress”, occupies high 10. place in Europe. Montenegro is 32. with 35 percent, while Croatia, due to the fall of satisfaction for three percentage points, fell to 36. A place with 28 percent satisfied.
Gallup warns of all lower global employees engagement, especially among managers, women and younger workers. The fall of engagement is associated with bad management and lack of feelings in the workplace, which directly affects productivity and team morale. According to estimates, the world economy is therefore losing about 438 billion dollars a year.
However, Gallup points out that high engagement is not unattainable: there are organizations in which up to 70 percent, thanks to the application of scientifically based methods of guidance. BiH and Region, although they record progress in the subjective experience of life, still have a significant space for growth when it comes to working motivation and organizational culture, writes Focus.
