With the aim of improving safety in the area of stationary traffic, as an important segment of the overall safety situation in the area of traffic, from the level of the Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Zenica-Doboj Canton, an action of increased traffic control was ordered and implemented, which is being implemented in the period from 24.02. until 15.03.2026. year and which will be specifically aimed at controlling the stopping and parking of vehicles.
In this sense, the registered activities will have a primarily repressive character with a special emphasis on sanctioning drivers who stop and park their vehicles in unauthorized places and thus directly threaten the rights and safety of other road users and the rights of citizens, where this primarily refers to parking at:
- places marked for people with disabilities,
- bus stops and other areas intended for public transport,
- taxi stands.
Supervision and control of the use of parking spaces for people with disabilities is a question of respect for basic human rights, but also the level of civic awareness in the context of the willingness to appreciate and respect the specific needs of vulnerable categories in society.
By improperly occupying these places, the dignity and daily functioning of persons with disabilities is directly threatened, and we remind you that such violations will not be tolerated and that the police officers of this Police Directorate will react repressively in all cases and sanction these violations.
A special segment in these activities is related to improving the safety of students in public transport, i.e. in bus transport. Since improperly parked vehicles at bus stops can cause risky situations during the entry and exit of passengers, especially school-aged children, the documenting and sanctioning of these violations is taken extremely seriously in this action.
Also, the illegal occupation of taxi stands prevents registered taxi operators from carrying out their activities without hindrance, which is why this registered action of the police indirectly ensures and protects legal work, and contributes to the economic and all other forms of stability and organization of the local community.
Legally prescribed measures will be taken against all found violators, including the issuance of misdemeanor warrants and, where the legal requirements are met, the removal of the vehicle with a special vehicle. The police department warns all drivers of the obligation to comply with traffic regulations and to contribute to a safer flow of traffic on all roads and thoroughfares in the area of Zenica-Doboj canton by their traffic behavior and civic responsibility.
