The diaspora has a key role in the economy of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Constant growth of cash remittances is recorded. Last year, they reached the cerns 4.16 billion convertible marks. Thanks to that money, the domestic population manages to maintain purchasing power and ultimate consumption.

Total current transfers from abroad in 2024. year amounted to 5.69 billion stamps and 425 million KM are higher compared to 2023. year. The growth trend has been achieved in cash remittances from abroad. On that basis, the inflow was higher by 370 million KM in relation to the year earlier.
That money makes up about 11 percent of our GDP. However, the money paid through banks is necessary and add money that the diaspora brings on arrival home. The amount can only be assessed.
“First and primary, that number of people who leave. The situation is increasingly difficult and the money is sent to us and that the situation is much harder to make our economy efficient and competitive,” said Aleksandar Ljuboja, an economic expert.
