The fishing season in Široki Brijeg will begin on Saturday, March 14, 2026, while its closure is scheduled for October 1, 2026.
Based on Article 10 of the Law on Freshwater Fisheries (“Official Gazette of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina”, number 64/04) and Article 6 of the Agreement on the transfer of fishing rights to DŠR “Borak” Široki Brijeg, on the part of the fishing area – Široki Brijeg fishing zone, for the purpose of sport and recreational fishing. The Ministry of the Economy of the County of Zapadno-Herzegovina has assigned the fishing right to the user, contract number: 05-05-24-3781-1/23, 24.11.2023. based on who it is DŠR “Borak” Široki Brijeg adopted the annual plan, which, after the session of the Assembly of the Association of Sports Anglers “Borak” – Široki Brijeg, on February 6, 2026, adopted the following decisions:
- The opening date of the fishing season is Saturday March 14, 2026 at 6:00 a.m.
- The closing date of the fishing season is October 1, 2026.
- Stocking will be carried out in March before the opening of the season when favorable conditions appear, about which members will be informed via the official Facebook page of the Society and via the WhatsApp group.
The decision of the Assembly determined that able-bodied members of the Society aged 18-65 are obliged to do at least one annual work action. In case they are not able to pay “per diem” of 20 KM. The company will send notifications about actions via the social networks facebook or whatsapa.
Prohibitions remain the same as in the previous season (from the Japlanički bridge to the source of the Lištica river, from the “Triangle” near the County building to the department store)
Waters managed by DŠR “Borak”
- Lištica River, length 24 km, area 240 ha.
- River Žvatić, length 1.1 km, area 0.6 ha.
- Crnašnica River, length 5.9 km, area 24 ha.
- Lake Gnjilište, area approx. 1.2 ha.
Permitted quantities and lengths of fish catch
- Brook trout 2 (two) pieces, minimum 25cm
- California trout 4 (four) pieces, minimum length 25 cm
- Carp 2 (two) pieces, minimum length 35 cm
Total daily catch of salmonid fish species may not exceed 3 pieces per exitunless they are catching rainbow trout.

In accordance with Article 11 of the Rulebook on the form and content of the permit form for sport and recreational fishing, the amount of the permit fee is determined:
A) For citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and foreign citizens for fishing in all fishing waters, except in special areas:
- DAILY PERMIT – 20.00 KM
- WEEKEND OFF – 40.00 KM
B) ANNUAL PERMITS issued by the user of the fishing area/zone to its members are determined the following fees:
for citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and foreign citizens with permanent residence in Bosnia and Herzegovina:
- 100.00 KM for members aged 18-65;
- 50.00 KM for members aged 14-18 and over 65;
- 25.00 KM for members up to 14 years of age.
– for citizens of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina:
- 50.00 KM – for pensioners; the disabled; persons with developmental disabilities; unemployed persons; students; female fishermen; (with proof of status)
In order to issue annual fishing licenses, old and new members must bring the following:
- Copy of ID card (old and new members)
- A completed application form in which the following information must be filled in: father’s name, residential address, phone number and occupation
- Membership card (old members only)
- The amount of 2 KM – membership fee according to the decision of the assembly for all members
- 2 photos size 2.5×3.5 cm (new members, old members who need to issue a new membership card)
- The price of the membership card is 10 KM (if the membership card is filled out, the new one is free)
Proof of status
- Pensioners – a copy of the last month’s pension slip
- RVI invalids – a decision on disability, and civil invalids and persons with developmental disabilities a certificate from the Center for Social Work
- Unemployed persons – confirmation from the competent employment service not older than 30 days
- Students – certificate of studies no older than 30 days
- Women – a copy of the identity card
Obligations and rights of fishermen
The rights and obligations of anglers are prescribed by valid legal regulations, and they must be respected and implemented. Fish in fishing waters in sport fishing may be caught by anglers who have a fishing license for the fishing area/zone in which they fish.
The obligation and duty of every sports fisherman is to inform the fish warden about any illegal fishing, water pollution, environmental pollution, as well as other phenomena that endanger the flora and fauna in the fishing waters of the Široki Brijeg fishing zone.
