The sports public of Bosnia and Herzegovina will soon find out which players the national team will count on in the upcoming barrage against the Wales selection in the fight for qualification to the 2026 World Cup.
Zmajev coach Sergej Barbarez should announce the list of players for one of the most important matches of the national team in the last few years. The match against Wales will be played on March 26 in Cardiff.
In the event of a victory over the Welsh, the national team of Bosnia and Herzegovina would play in front of the home crowd in Zenica in the play-off final on March 31. The opponent would be the winner of the second semi-final match between Italy and Northern Ireland.
However, Barbarez has a lot of problems before these matches. Several national team members are struggling with injuries, including Edin Džeko, Amar Dedić, Amar Memic and Dennis Hadžikadunić. Young Nidal Čelik also had problems, who in the meantime unexpectedly won a place in the starting line-up of the French team Lens, one of the stronger teams in Ligue 1.
Despite everything, most of these players could end up on the final roster. According to current estimates, only the Portuguese Braga stopper Adrian Leon Barišić could be missing from Barbarez’s standard options.
