The revenues of the BiH Indirect Tax Administration (ITA BiH) and the tax administrations of the Republika Srpska and the Federation of BiH continue to grow, so a total of 1.86 billion KM was collected during January.
The ITA BiH announced that revenues from indirect taxes in January 2026 amounted to 885 million KM and are higher by five million KM or 0.57% compared to the same period in 2025, when they amounted to 880 million KM.
“In January 2026, the ITA returned 187 million KM of VAT refunds to the economy, so the net revenues that were distributed to users in January 2026, namely the state, entities and Brčko District, amounted to 698 million KM”, stated the ITA BiH.
Financing of state institutions
They added that an amount of 79 million KM was allocated for the financing of state institutions in January 2026.
“The rest of the collected revenues from indirect taxes ended up with the entities and the Brčko District. Thus, the Federation of BiH received 381 million KM from the single account, the Republika Srpska 214 million KM and the Brčko District 21 million KM. Based on the special toll for the construction of highways and the construction and reconstruction of other roads (0.25 KM), the Federation of BiH received an additional 23 million KM, the Republika Srpska 15 million KM and the Brčko District 791,000 KM. The difference represents a reserve for to a separate account for the toll in the amount of 0.25 KM”, they pointed out from the ITA of BiH.
Tax Administration of the Republic of Srpska
The Tax Administration of Republika Srpska announced that in January of this year they collected 325.4 million KM from public revenues, which is 36.9 million KM or 13 percent more than in January 2025.
“Contributions were collected in the amount of 220.6 million KM, which is 22.7 million KM or 11 percent more than in the same month of 2025, where the collection of contributions for the PIO Fund and the Health Insurance Fund is higher by 11 percent each, while for the Employment Institute it is higher by 12 percent, and for the Child Protection Fund the collection of contributions is by 15 percent,” the statement of the PU of the RS reads.
“In January 2026, direct taxes were collected in the amount of 61.5 million KM, which is 8.2 million marks or 15 percent more than in January of the previous year. The biggest increase was achieved in income tax, which was collected in the amount of 39.1 million marks, which is 20 percent more than in January 2025. In addition, there was a significant increase in the collection of direct taxes and profit tax, which was charged in the amount of 20.4 million marks, which is 10 percent more than in January 2025,” said the Tax Administration of the RS.
When it comes to other public revenues, 43.2 million KM were collected in January, which is 6.1 million KM or 16 percent more compared to the same month in 2025. Taxes and fees were collected in the amount of 16.3 million KM or 31 percent more, while fees for organizing games of chance were collected in the amount of 16.8 million KM or 13 percent more than in January 2025, they write. The Tax Administration of the FBiH informed the public that the taxpayers of the Federation of BiH paid 650,610,816 KM of public revenue in January, which is 14,710,446 KM more than in January 2025, or 2.31%.
“As of January 31, 2026, the number of active business entities with included business units and branches in the Federation of BiH was 134,757, and as of January 31, 2025, the number of active business entities with included business units and branches in the Federation of BiH was 131,714,” reads the PU FBiH announcement.
