Chwalinska from qualification to the final of Roland Garros

With a semifinal triumph over Russian Diana Shnaider 7-6(4), 6-4, Chwalinska made a real feat by reaching the final after starting her performance in Paris in the qualifiers.

Chwalinska, 114th in the world, won against the 25th seed after two hours and 10 minutes of play. It was her ninth victory on the “red earth” of Paris, after she achieved the first three in the qualifications, and six in the main draw.

Prior to her performance in Paris, the 24-year-old Pole had only reached the quarterfinals of a main event this season, in February in Cluj-Napoca.

In the final, Chwalinska will play against 19-year-old Russian Mira Andrejeva, who in the second semi-final was better than Ukrainian Marta Kostyuk 6-1, 6-3 in sets.

For Andrejeva, this will also be her first appearance in the final of a Grand Slam tournament.
