The Chelsea players called for a foul in the attack, believing that the Arsenal players blocked the defense during the corner kick, but referee Darren England did not react and conceded the goal.
The situation for the visitors got even more complicated four minutes later when Pedro Neto, although he already had a yellow card, made a rough start on the opposing player. The referee showed him a straight red card and Chelsea were left with a player less.
The score did not change until the end of the match. Arsenal are now five points ahead of second-placed Manchester City, but also have a game in hand.
