A 46-year-old man of Albanian origin died last night around 10 pm during an attempted burglary in a villa near Arezzo, in central Italy.
The accident happened while he was fleeing the estate with two accomplices, who are still on the run.
His body was found in a vineyard near the house. The investigation of the property, which consists of two connected villas, was carried out by the prosecutors together with the carabinieri, who were called by the owner, writes Il Messaggero.
After the alarm went off, the brother-in-law of the owner of one of the houses, a retired lawyer, fired a shot in the air to scare away the burglars.
Fleeing the property, the 46-year-old became entangled in a spiked, electrified net that had previously been installed to protect against wild animals.
Namely, there are frequent problems with wild boars and wolves in that area. He managed to take a few more steps before collapsing, and his accomplices left him and fled.
An autopsy, which has already been ordered, will determine whether death occurred from a ruptured femoral artery or other injuries sustained in the fall.
This morning, despite the heavy rain, the Carabinieri returned to the scene for additional investigation.
