The Italian edition of Eurosport refers to La Gazzetta dello Sport and writes that “Milan continues its intensive courting of Luka Modric”.
“The club hopes for a positive response before the Croatian starts preparing for the World Cup, so that he can clearly plan the 2026/2027 season,” the text adds, and then gives the author’s opinion.
“Despite 40 years old, Modrić is still a player of an extraordinary level for our championship. With his quality and aura, he conquered the entire environment of the club in just a few days and that keeps him in the center of attention even today. The fans want him to stay, as does the coach Massimiliano Allegri, who would still entrust him with the ‘keys’ of the midfield, albeit with less minutes than before (which, by the way, has already exceeded that of last season)”, the text states.
Then follows the conclusion:
“Modrić, for his part, has always shown that he is happy to wear the Milan shirt in this unexpected second youth. The final decision, given his age and family circumstances, is up to him. The Croatian could decide to end his career after the World Cup or do it after another, romantic season in his homeland, in Dinamo Zagreb. At the moment, it seems that the option of extending the contract with Milan is the most likely.”
Modrić’s figures are impressive for a veteran and it is not surprising that Milan wants him as a midfielder even after he turns 41, reports Index.hr.
He played 2,144 minutes in 28 games this season, mostly as a starter. He scored two and assisted three goals.
