The French carrier, which is part of the French Navy, has been in Sweden for several days as part of the NATO military exercise called Orion-26, reports Index.
According to SVT, on February 26, a Russian drone took off from a nearby Russian ship and headed towards the aircraft carrier. The Swedish military soon detected it and initiated electronic jamming measures, after which the aircraft disappeared from the radar. It is still not known whether the drone returned to the ship from which it was launched or ended up in the sea.
This, however, is not an isolated event. During this month, a Russian drone was found in Moldova, near the village of Sofia, and similar cases were also recorded in Turkey, where Russian drones were repeatedly discovered on the territory of that country.
Portal Politico previously reported that Europe, faced with frequent incidents in which Russian drones violate the airspace of NATO member states, is considering what concrete steps it could take in response to Russian hybrid activities.
