Canada and the USA are the expected participants in the finals of the Olympic hockey tournament in Milan scheduled for Sunday, when the 2026 Winter Olympics will officially close.
After Canada defeated Finland 3:2 (0:1, 1:1, 2:0) in the semifinals, the USA was more convincing against Slovakia and won 6:2 (2:0, 3:0, 1:2).
The Americans won the title of Olympic champions twice, both times on home soil (Squaw Valley in 1960 and Lake Placid in 1980).
They also have eight silver medals, and they won the last medal in 2010 in Vancouver, when they lost in the final to host Canada.
On the other hand, the Canadians will try to win the 10th title of Olympic winners in Sunday’s final, scheduled for 14 hours and 10 minutes.
This final will be the last event at these Winter Olympic Games, and before that, Finland and Slovakia will meet in the match for bronze on Saturday at 20:40.
