In the next few years, the reorganization and closure of the mines in Bosnia and Herzegovina is expected. There is an energy transition and decarbonization process in action. The first of the seven mines from the Group goes to complete closure is a Zeni’s mine, writes federal.
Zenical miners are still facing uncertainty. Although the decision on interruption of work was put out of strength, salaries are still questionable for the remaining workers, because instead of production, they work in the affairs of the pit inspection and extracting valuable equipment. What special care of them is how they will be adequately taken care of.
After 28 years of work in the pits of the Zenica mine for Senid Dizdarević every day is a new uncertainty. The mine, inevitably, expects the closing process, and from the former more than a thousand, about 530 workers are left here.
“People are doing, some have already gone to look for a better place because here we see that there is no more perspective, Nafak,” he says.
And while Senid and his chambers, who soon acquire retirement conditions, hope to go to a well-deserved retirement, those younger, they have lost all hope that their piece of bread will continue to earn on the mine.
“It was promised to share our severance pay, send us to the Bureau, retire those who are in advantage. When I will no longer exist. I will seek another job,” says Nedždin Lukovic, Rman RMU Zenica.
With the fact that this mine would be closed, miners were reconciled. Production is almost no, and tons of coal in stock standing and waiting for the buyer to ensure what kind of income. Currently, most employees are working on the closing projects of the Old Pit and the George.
“This is the first mine that closes in the Federation, there is no experience with the mine. We have no precise indicator at this time, but that is a complex process, the president of the union organization of the RMU Zenica.
The closure of the mine will take place through a fairer transition project. For this purpose, the Government of the Federation has secured the Funds of the World Bank in the amount of 150 million marks. Part of this money will be used for the social care of workers and skills development programs for workers and communities looking for alternatives outside the coal sector. About 40 million have been allocated earlier for the care of 199 improvement workers.
“We believe it would be optimal that 400 workers are taken care of in five years, and about 200 workers should be imprisoned in accordance with the laws.” In the previous period, the Minister of Energy, Minister of Energy, Mining and Industry FBiH (SDP).
“We will see what everything through the projects will be predicted to take care of all the unions in front of the union to get out of the workers, because they deserve these people, left most of the working century in the mine,” Durakovic said.
Meanwhile, until adequate answers and workers’ disposal models are being done in this mine is working on the drawing of multimillon valuable equipment and a broadmechanized forehead that will be transferred to the Creek Mine. The Zeni Mine, obviously, has not survived numerous attempts to restructure and financial consolidation because it has not been able to provide self-sustaining work for years. The question is just how will the remaining miners survive a period of full closure?
