The meeting discussed the financial support of the Government of Zenica-Doboj Canton for the performance of BiH basketball selections in the upcoming competitions. Finding that due to the lack of finance, the performance of the Youth selection of Bosnia and Herzegovina at the European Championships, the Government Rade, reacted promptly, as the Government of the Tuzla Canton and the Government of the Federation of BiH, to promise assistance.
– I am also honored that we have had the opportunity to help BiH’s basketball federation and our state selections go to the competition. We continue to give great support to sports and approach the amount of 1% of budget allocations for sports. We will opt for the amount of 200,000 KM for the help of the KSBiH – said Prime Minister Pivić.
He added that sad that BiH’s Basketball Alliance and our national selection must be settled in this way, “because the issue is not systematically resolved.”
– We show the desire and determination to invest in our national selection, recalling how happy we were when the Cadet selection of our country 2015 became the champion of Europe and when we triumphantly welcomed those guys. We would like to send a message to young people to and our talents should have all the necessary conditions for work, and especially for competitions at the international level – said Pivić.
He announced that the Government in the session on Friday, decision on the allocation of the KSBiH assistance, and that the following weeks will be operational “to address this problem.”
– Our basketball team brought so much joy to this country, the most beautiful things for this nation, integrated us in the focus not only regional, but also throughout Europe, and spent large players in Bosnia and Herzegovina as the best ambassadors. They didn’t deserve such treatment. They did not deserve to think about whether they would appear at large competitions for finance. We wanted to react adequately, help them and send a message that everything that wears the Prefix ‘Bosnian’ will be recognized and supported by this government. We don’t want to participate only in celebration when they achieve results, but also in their creation – said Minister Mirza Mushi.
The President of the KSBiH AID Berbić stated that he received a message from the Secretary General of Dževad Alihodzic soon after last week’s publication issues that the Government and the Assembly of the ZD were ready to help.
– After that, they also called us from Tuzla Canton, and then others. It was a sign that there were still people who recognize the importance of investing in young people and this sport in which we have good results in recent years – said Berbic.
He explained that four youth selections at European Championships in Latvia, Romania, Turkey and North Macedonia, is required, while for the senior representation, which is expected to perform at the European Championship from 27. August to 14. September, necessary for a minimum of 500,000 KM.
Dževad Alihodžić expressed regret that the mantra was constantly repeated in public that “something cannot”.
– As athletes I learned to fight on the ground and that something can always be done. It is time to find a permanent solution to the funding for the federations and national selections, in order to be able to plan activities and achieve better results. With partial solutions and constant problems, we cannot count on serious results. In such conditions, success is an incident, not the result of the systemic work – Alihodzic pointed out.
The former representative of BiH, who with the selection of Yugoslavia, was both the world and European champion, today performs the ungrateful function of the Secretary-General of the KSBiH. As a born Zenician, he expressed the pride that the help initiative originated from Zenica-Doboj Canton.
– The Government of the CPP, led by Prime Minister Nezira, provides exceptional support to the national selection. As Zenician, I am extremely proud of it. I am sure that the initiative will be accepted here in other parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina as a model of assistance to national federations – Alihodzic emphasized.
Goran Bulajić, vice-chairing the Assembly of the ZDK and the Father of the Cadetian team of Jan Bulajić, said the system was re-scheduled, but also that the ZDK government promptly reacted to the cry of KSBH.
– Prime Minister Nezir Pivić, Minister Mirza Mušija and Finance Minister Jenna Ciši quickly found a way to provide funds. Patriotism of the People from the ZD was shown, and that is why I am proud, “Bulajic said.
