The Minister of Labour, Social Policy and Refugees, Antonio Šimunović, said that the Budget of the Ministry is about 5,000,000 KM higher than last year.
– We continue to support employed and unemployed mothers, for which we allocated 49 million KM. In addition to the expenses for mothers in labor, we also set aside over 10 million KM for accommodation in social welfare institutions, i.e. for our most vulnerable sections of society. We also have a transfer of 3,000,000 KM for the Public Institution Center for Children and Adults with Developmental Difficulties. In the mandate of this government, the investment for this institution is 30 percent higher – said Šimunović.
800,000 KM has been set aside for retirement, i.e. linking the seniority of employees of companies that were in bankruptcy, which is 300,000 KM more than last year. Regular legal benefits for civilian victims of war amount to more than 4,000,000 KM.
Through public calls, 1,000,000 KM will be transferred to encourage the return of refugees and displaced persons, and 400,000 KM for the construction or renovation of local centers for social work. 160,000 KM will be transferred to support the Safe House for taking care of victims of domestic violence of the “Medica” Association.
– Last year, almost all of the planned funds were spent for benefits to employed and unemployed mothers, which were planned at 49 million KM – said Šimunović, who pointed out that this benefit amounts to 1,000 KM on a monthly basis.
It is estimated that last year around 4,100 women in labor used this allowance, and according to the information provided by some beneficiaries to this ministry, the City of Zenica is the only one that has not yet paid this allowance for December last year, although the money for the January allowance from 2026 has already been transferred to cities and municipalities.
