The White House said the US military campaign against Iran was “advancing successfully”, as Washington signaled both a growing advantage on the battlefield and continued behind-the-scenes talks with Tehran.
Spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt said Operation Epic Rage was progressing “as planned,” with US forces increasing their advantage over what she described as the “terrorist Iranian regime.”
At the same time, Leavitt said diplomatic talks are ongoing and “going well,” despite contradictory public messages from Iran, adding that Iranian officials are acting “more reasonable” in private conversations.
The spokeswoman stressed that Donald Trump had issued a 10-day pause in planned attacks on Iran’s power plants and energy infrastructure, calling it a “once-in-a-generation opportunity” for Iran to reach a deal.
The proposed deal would require Tehran to permanently abandon its nuclear ambitions and halt activities that Washington describes as destabilizing in the region.
Leavitt warned that any promises made in the talks would be severely tested, stressing that Iran would face military consequences if it did not fulfill them.
“One way or another, Iran will no longer have the credible ability to threaten the United States of America or our allies,” she said, describing that as the central goal of the operation.
She also criticized Iran’s previous leadership, saying some are no longer alive because of “lies” during earlier negotiations, underscoring the administration’s stance on continued diplomacy.
