Announcement on the topic of the project “Aging and Health” in Tešanj
It is with regret that we read the notice of the Red Cross on the unilateral termination of the “Aging and Health” project, since at the meeting of the representatives of the Municipality of Tešanj and the Red Cross, in December 2025, the method of continuing the project in 2026 was agreed upon. In the Budget for 2026, support for the project is provided in the amount of 30,000 KM.
In order to properly inform the public, we provide more facts about everything.
The first phase of the project in 2024 and 2025 was realized at the request and with the financial support of Tešanj Municipality as a pilot project. Without the participation of Tešanj Municipality, there would be no project at all. Even today, we consider it necessary to provide additional home care in our municipality to people who need it due to age, illness or financial circumstances.
In this regard, on Tuesday 30.12.2025. The Municipal Mayor organized a meeting, which was attended by the President of the Presidency of the Red Cross Tešanj (Sejid Brka), the President of the Assembly of the Red Cross Tešanj (Esad Hasaničević), the Secretary of the Red Cross Tešanj (Mujo Fejzić), a member of the Assembly of the Red Cross Tešanj (Adnan Alić), the director of the Center for Social Work Tešanj (Sabahudin Omerbašić) and the Assistant of the Municipal Mayor (Azra Muslija). The following was presented and agreed at the meeting:
– In the Budget for 2026, funds in the amount of 30,000 KM are planned for the home care project, whereby Tešanj Municipality confirms its interest in continuing the project.
– In the selection of new users of the project, it is mandatory to include the Center for Social Work Tešanj, which has social anamnesis and knows the social needs of the residents (this was not respected in the previous period).
– The criteria for using home care must primarily be the person’s health and financial status. Where there are good financial circumstances of service users or families, clear heirs, it should be dealt with in other ways.
– Home care and assistance must be available to all citizens of the municipality of Tešanj, who are in need and according to clear criteria, not only members of the Red Cross. Users cannot be obliged to join and pay membership fees to anyone, which was previously a requirement for using home care and assistance.
– It is necessary to improve the coordination, supervision and reporting on the activities carried out for a minimum of two annual analyses.
All those present at the meeting confirmed that these expectations of the Municipality are correct and that they will be included in the final contract proposal. It was also confirmed that the support of the Municipality in the coming years will be signed on an annual basis, after the adoption of the Budget. After the meeting, the Red Cross submitted a proposal for the project contract, which had to be additionally arranged according to the agreed conclusions from the meeting in December 2025.
We read the notice of the Red Cross about the termination of the project on local portals, without specifying the content of all the conversations. The Red Cross is an association of special interest with which we have good cooperation and whose activities we have supported in many ways and through various projects. The Municipality of Tešanj will continue to provide support to all categories of the population.
