Rodriguez took office after Washington ousted her predecessor, Nicolas Maduro, who was arrested by US forces on January 3 in Caracas, the capital of Venezuela.
Rodriguez was removed from OFAC’s Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons List, allowing her to work more freely with US companies and investors.
She welcomed the decision in a statement posted on Xu, calling it a “significant step in the right direction of normalizing and strengthening relations” between the US and Venezuela.
– We believe that this progress will enable the lifting of the sanctions that are currently in force against our country, enabling the construction of an effective program of bilateral cooperation for the benefit of our peoples – wrote Rodriguez, reports DW.
