At the end of December 2025, a total of 46,471 unemployed persons were registered in the records of the unemployed of the Public Institution Employment Service of Zenica-Doboj Canton, it was confirmed by this institution. Of the total number of unemployed, 29,379 are women who are actively looking for employment.
Compared to the same period a year earlier, the number of unemployed registered a slight decrease. Namely, at the end of December 2024, there were 46,476 persons on the records of the ZDK Employment Service, which is five more unemployed than at the end of 2025. At the same time, the number of unemployed women in December 2024 was 29,175.
Observed by municipalities and cities, the largest number of unemployed was recorded in Zenica, where 15,489 persons were registered at the Labor Bureau, of which 9,880 were women. They are followed by Visoko with 5,506 unemployed (3,400 women), Zavidovići with 5,153 (3,103), Tešanj with 5,080 (2,987), and Kakanj, where 4,788 unemployed people were recorded, among whom 3,289 were women.
At the end of last year, 3,547 unemployed persons (2,223 women) were registered in Žepč, 2,890 (1,952) in Maglaj, 1,320 (921) in Breza, 1,060 (636) in Olovo, while 581 unemployed persons were registered in Vareš, of which 369 were women. The lowest number of unemployed was recorded in the municipalities of Doboj Jug, where 563 people (353 women) were registered, and Usora with 494 unemployed people, among whom 266 were women.
The data indicate that total unemployment in the Zenica-Doboj Canton during 2025 remained at almost the same level compared to the previous year, with minor changes in the structure of records.
