Residents of the city of Oryol reported powerful explosions during the night, and the Russian opposition channel Astra published a video of a security camera that captured the moment of the attack on the local thermal power plant.
Regional governor Andrey Klitschko confirmed the attack, but said the Orl thermal power plant was hit by debris from intercepted drones, which “caused damage to power supply equipment.” He added that there were no fires or casualties and that repairs are underway, and the power supply is “almost completely restored”.

It is about an electric power plant of at least 330 megawatts (MW) owned by the company RIR Energo, which operates within the state energy corporation Rosatom.
Multiple explosions were also recorded in the Russian cities of Vladimir and Yaroslavl, where local residents, according to Russian Telegram channels, also heard the action of air defense.
According to an analysis conducted by Astra, the attacks in Vladimir targeted the “Vladimir” electrical substation, one of the key energy hubs in the region. The governor of the Vladimir region, Aleksandar Avdeyev, confirmed the attack on an infrastructure facility near the city, without specifying what exactly it was about.
“The enemy carried out an attack on the infrastructure near the city of Vladimir. All systems are currently working normally. Experts are on the ground,” he said. In Yaroslavl, explosions rang out near the Novo-Yaroslavsky oil refinery.
These attacks came just a day after Russian forces launched a massive missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure on the night of October 30. According to DTEK, Ukraine’s largest private energy company, Russia then hit multiple thermal power plants across the country.
Later on the same day, the Slovyansk thermal power plant in the Donetsk region was also attacked, killing two people and injuring several others. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called Russian attacks on energy facilities “exclusively terror”.
