This represents the first documented case of Russian soldiers being captured by an autonomous ground combat robot without the direct involvement of infantry.
The video was released by the company DevDroid, the manufacturer of the system, showing the new reality of modern warfare.
The robot forced the Russians to surrender without infantry
The video shows the Russian aggressors approaching the robotic platform one by one, removing their equipment and lying on the ground next to the system, fully following orders without direct contact with Ukrainian soldiers.
DevDroid emphasized the symbolic importance of this event.
“This is what modern warfare looks like. Robots are on the front line. People are safe”the company said.
Droid TW-7.62: Machine gun, AI and autonomous target engagement
The Droid TW-7.62 is a reconnaissance-strike robotic system adapted for the KT-7.62 (PKT) machine gun. It is equipped with a ballistic computer that enables high precision and effective targeting.
A key feature of the system is artificial intelligence, which allows it to:
- autonomously detects targets
- locks targets
- tracks objects in real time
This significantly reduces the burden on the operator and increases the combat resistance of the units.
The NUMO platform and the future of Ukrainian ground combat robots
The system is built on the NUMO modular platform, which can be adapted to different combat tasks. The Droid TW-7.62 can operate in complex conditions, including difficult terrain, and can be integrated with additional sensors such as night vision, thermal cameras and low visibility systems.
Ukrainian forces already have positive experiences with similar systems. Previously, Droid TW 12.7, used by the 3rd Separate Assault Brigade, completely replaced the infantry position and held it for a month and a half.
Russian forces failed to break through the defenses under the continuous fire of the autonomous system, which represents one of the first proofs of the effectiveness of ground combat robots in real combat conditions.
