“I think it can end very quickly. It will end soon,” Trump said in a separate interview taped Tuesday for a Fox Business Network show that aired Wednesday.
Officials from Pakistan, Iran and several Gulf countries also said negotiating teams from the US and Iran could return to Islamabad this week.
Iran’s foreign ministry said a Pakistani delegation was likely to come to Iran on Wednesday and convey messages from Washington.
Talks held last weekend broke down without an agreement to end the war Trump launched with Israel on February 28, which has sparked Iranian attacks on its Gulf neighbors and reignited a parallel conflict between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon.
