At the same time, he emphasized that he does not plan to take over control of the island, which has an autonomous status within the Kingdom of Denmark.
The newspaper reminds that in early January, the USA carried out a military operation in Venezuela, during which President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were arrested. Subsequently, Maduro and his wife were prosecuted in the Federal District Court in New York on charges of “narco-terrorism”. Trump then declared that the US would govern Venezuela until a “safe, orderly and reasonable transition of power” was provided.
The American president has repeatedly said that Canada should become the 51st state of the USA, and he has repeatedly referred to former Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and current Prime Minister Mark Carney as “governors”.
At the banquet, Trump also jokingly mentioned Kevin Warsh, whom he nominated as the new chairman of the Federal Reserve, saying that he would “sue him if he doesn’t lower interest rates”, and then added that he was joking.
Among the guests of the banquet were critics of the American president, including the director of “JPMorgan Chase” Jamie Dimon, the founder of “Carlyle Group” David Rubenstein, as well as the outgoing chairman of the Fed Jerome Powell.
