According to information from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), Enstrom F-28A and Enstrom 280C helicopters collided on Sunday around 11:25 a.m. local time near the Hammonton Municipal Airport in southern New Jersey. At the time of the accident, there were only pilots in both helicopters.
Footage from the crash site, broadcast by American media, shows how one of the helicopters spun uncontrollably in the air before falling to the ground. Upon arrival at the field, members of the fire service extinguished the fire that engulfed one of the aircraft.

The helicopters crashed in a field in the Hammonton area, and both pilots were airlifted to the nearest trauma center. Unfortunately, one of them succumbed to his injuries, while the other is undergoing treatment.
The investigation into the cause of the accident will be taken over by the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), with the support of the FAA.
The Hammonton Fire Department appealed to citizens not to approach the scene of the accident while emergency services are responding.
