Tonight, Muslims are celebrating one of the four selected Mubarak nights, Laylat al-Barat. The fifteenth night of the month of Sha’ban in the Islamic tradition is celebrated as Laylat al-Barat, also known as the night of forgiveness and destiny.
Laylat al-Barat holds a special place in the Islamic calendar as one of the four chosen nights.
This chosen night is mentioned in the hadiths as the night in which Almighty Allah determines human destinies, human lives and their livelihood. In some hadiths, it is mentioned that on this night Allah, the Exalted, forgives people’s sins.
In the Qur’an, this night is mentioned in the chapter Ad-Duhan (Smoke) in which Allah swt. says that it is a blessed night in which God determines all his decrees.
Layletul-berat means liberation, cleansing. According to Islamic belief, Allah (swt) on that night he frees a large number of people from their sins.
The eighth month of the Hijri calendar, the month of Sha’ban, is also known in Islamic tradition as al-Shahrul-Mu’azam – the glorious month.
Prophet Muhammad spent this month in penitent fasting. It is the month in which, according to the words of God’s messenger, deeds are raised to the Lord of all the worlds. The month of Sha’ban is also the “great harbinger” of the imminent arrival of Mubarak Ramadan, the Muslim fasting month.
Laylat al-Barat has several names: the night of half of Sha’ban, the night of forgiveness, the night of liberation from sin, and the night of decision. According to the honorable hadith, the name of this night is “Nisfush-Sha’ban”, which means half of the month of Sha’ban.
God’s prophet Muhammad, peace be upon him, said: “When the 15th night of Sha’ban arrives, spend it in nafila (voluntary prayer, prayer), and the following day, in fasting.” Factor.
